LAGOS OFFICIALS INSPECT ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN AMIKANLE
A team of Lagos State officials from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development and the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD) has carried out an inspection tour of the ongoing road Construction work on Erelu way, Amikanle in Agbado-Okeodo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).The inspection tour of the 1.3km long road is aimed at determining the level of compliance with established standard as specified in the contract agreement, evaluate the progress of work done and its impact on the residents of the community and to ensure value for money expended.Speaking on behalf of the community, the Baale of Amikanle, High Chief Akeem Oladejo expressed gratitude to the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu for bringing the project to his community, explaining that the multiplier effect and the developmental impact of the project on the community will forever be cherished.He, however, decried the slow pace of work on the project while appealing to the monitoring team and the contractor to expedite action towards a speedy completion of the road. Responding on behalf of the visiting team, the leader of the technical team from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Engr. Onafuwa assured the people of the community that efforts will be intensified to ensure that the project is speedily completed while appealing to them to be patient and cooperate with the contractor. The road which is nearing 50% completion with the construction of drainages will facilitate easy access and reduce traffic time within and around the community, improve socio-economic activities and livelihoods of residents, enhance security and attract investment to the community, towards strengthening the THEMES plus Agenda of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
