LASG BRIDGES THE DIGITAL DIVIDE BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN COMMUNITIES In line with the policy of promoting inclusivity as one of the cardinal objectives of the THEMES Plus Agenda of the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration, the Lagos State Government through the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD), has trained another set of youths in the rural communities of Epe, Ikorodu, Eredo and its environs on digital skills, branding and online marketing. Addressing participants at a one day training held in Igbodu, Epe, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Lanre-Agbaje, stressed the determination of the current administration in ensuring the people of the rural communities in Lagos State are not neglected in the rapidly evolving global digital transformation and its attendant socioeconomic benefits. Dr Lanre-Agbaje opined that the training is aimed at equipping the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them compete within the digital space, create a unique brand identity for their products and services, expand their market reach and to provide the leverage to attract massive clientele to their products and services for a higher turnover and improve earnings. He therefore charged the participants to be attentive, focused and cooperate with the facilitators in order to optimize the limitless opportunities that the training will avail them. Welcoming the participants to the training, Mr Musibau Balogun, the Director, CERUD, advised them to take advantage of the new skills that will be acquired during the training to expand the frontiers of their trades and businesses, improve their lives and livelihoods and contribute to the growth of the State’s economy. The training which was facilitated by Ikorodu News Network (INN), took the participants through various digital knowledge such as Niche Carving, Branding with Canva, Blog Creation and Online Marketing. The participants who are mainly students, young school leavers, fresh graduates and artisans expressed gratitude to Mr Governor, the Special Adviser on Rural Development and CERUD for putting the programme for the benefits of the rural dwellers.
